Spring Training 2017: Day 3

closeHey, just so you know ... this post is now about 7 years and 1 month old. Please keep that in mind as it very well may contain broken links and/or outdated information.

This morning we had breakfast at our hotel and then drove over to the Cleveland Indians Players Complex in Goodyear to watch their warm-ups and shag some fly balls during batting practice (we each got one). It was Corey Kluber bobblehead day at the ballpark so we were in line to shortly after it opened at 11:30am to get our vouchers. Strangely, getting a voucher didn’t guarantee getting a bobblehead so we got in another line to pick up our giveaway.

It was (unsurprisingly) another beautiful day for baseball in front of 8,541 fans. This time our seats were behind home plate so we were in the shade by the 7th inning, but compared to yesterday’s scorcher in Scottsdale it wasn’t that hot. The Indians were on fire in the bottom of the 7th inning, though, when Francisco Mejia hit a spring training grand slam and the Tribe beat the Kansas City Royals 7-6. 8,541

Saturday evening meant our annual dinner at Rustler’s Rooste, so after cleaning up at the hotel we drove up into the hills to enjoy a steak dinner with a nighttime view of the valley. Back at the hotel we had to start packing to leave. My brother leaves tomorrow morning, but my sister and I are going to a fourth game before she flies home tomorrow evening. And I’m sticking around because my family is flying in tomorrow and we’re going on a southwest roadtrip to continue my spring vacation.
