According to Dan Gilbert’s open letter to the fans, the Cavs will be champions before LeBron. I’m not sure I believe that, but I do kinda agree with this part:
“As you now know, our former hero, who grew up in the very region that he deserted this evening, is no longer a Cleveland Cavalier.
This was announced with a several-day, narcissistic, self-promotional build-up culminating with a national TV special of his “decision” unlike anything ever “witnessed” in the history of sports and probably the history of entertainment.”
There are some harsh portions of that letter (at least, harsh coming from a team owner), but there are some good points as well.
Art Modell seems confident that he will ultimately hold onto his title of the Most Hated Man in Cleveland. He may be right, but “King” James gets to wear that crown for quite a while.
Good luck in Miami, LeBron, I guess. Whatever. Meh. The Q will be a totally different place the first time the Heat come to play in Cleveland.
Let’s add “The King’s Elbow” to Cleveland’s list Championship Frustrations and move on as we always do. And oh yeah: Go Cavs!!
This post does a much better job of summarizing my feelings as a Cleveland fan.
LeBron may be gone, but here are 100 reasons to still love Cleveland.
Heh heh, oh snap!
The Cavs finally beat LeBron and the Heat at home in Cleveland. The season may be a complete loss, but at least beating LeBron at the Q is small consolation prize here near the end. Even better, LeBron totally skipped out on the player introductions. What, scared of a few boos?
It took a year, but LeBron finally apologized for “The Decision.” Too little, too late, for me. He could have beaten the Celtics last year with the Cavs if he hadn’t given up and made it clear he didn’t want to be in Cleveland anymore. Go [whoever plays against the Heat]!
Let’s move on … the Cavs, with the second-worst record in the league, won the #1 draft pick in the lottery. Could this be the jumpstart to the rebuilding of the team?
So how did taking your talents to South Beach work out for you, LeBron? Oh, right, it didn’t. Hope it was worth it. And yes, the rest of us regular people have to go back to the real world and our normal lives today, but it’s a world where you still don’t have a championship ring so it’s an okay world for me.
Ugh. I am seriously conflicted about this. Lebron is returning to Cleveland. His letter is pretty classy though, I have to admit.
Welcome home, #23.
