2020 may be an overall dumpster fire (with literal fires!) but the return of sports continues to be good to me. Except that I can’t actually go see any games in person! Oh well, I’ll take what I can get, and I’m getting a lot:
- the Lightning are currently leading the Dallas Stars 2 games to 1 in the Stanley Cup Finals (after beating the New Jersey Islanders in 6 games)
- the Rays clinched the AL East for the first time since 2010
- the Indians also clinched a playoff spot (as a wildcard) with a 10th inning 2 out, 3 run homer by Jose Ramirez
- the Browns beat the Bengals on national TV last Thursday (on TNF) to get their first win of the season (like I said, I’m taking what I can get 😉 )
- the Bucs and Tom Brady also got their first win of the season on Sunday against the Carolina Panthers (did I mention Tom Brady is playing for Tampa now? 😀 )
Go teams!
The post-season didn’t last long for the Indians as they lost two games in a row to the Yankees and were eliminated in the wildcard series. But now the Rays are up 2 games to 1 against those same Yankees (playing in San Diego, which is weird, but hey, 2020, right?) and hopefully will close them out in the ALDS tonight.
The Rays won game 5 of the ALDS tonight, eliminating the Yankees and advancing to the ALCS for the first time since 2008, where they’ll face the Houston Astros. Rays Up!
I have a rough history with post-season baseball Game 7s, but the Rays eliminated the Astros and are advancing to the World Series for the second time in franchise history (the last time was 2008)!! They’ll face the NL Champions LA Dodgers. Go Rays! #RaysUp!
The Browns also had a record-setting 4-1 start to their season (the first time since Bill Belichick was their head coach!). They were blown out by the undefeated Steelers yesterday, but 4-2 still isn’t bad!
