Road Trip 2011: Day 4 – driving to Boston

closeHey, just so you know ... this post is now about 12 years and 9 months old. Please keep that in mind as it very well may contain broken links and/or outdated information.

With our now familiar morning routine, we got up early, had breakfast at the hotel, and were on the road by 8:30am. About an hour later, after driving through Allentown (and playing the requisite Billy Joel song), we made a slight detour off the highway in Easton, PA to drive past the Crayola Factory. We really didn’t have time to go through it (and it was paid admission anyway) so after a quick photo opp it was back to the highway and then over the border into New Jersey.

After a Starbucks break in Bernardsville, NJ, we continued on I-287 around New York City to the north, over the Tappan Zee Bridge, hoping to avoid city traffic. It took a little longer than we planned (due to some crazy GPS directions), but by 2pm we were in Hartford, CT, meeting an old friend for lunch (at Vito’s by the Park).

By 4:30pm we were in the greater Boston area and made our first stop at the American Girl store for my daughter. After finally dragging her out of there we braved the rush hour traffic out in the suburbs and made it to our hotel in Burlington by 6pm. For dinner, we hit a nearby Trader Joe’s for groceries and then relaxed back in our room watching a Netflix movie streamed to my iPad connected to the flatscreen TV.

Tomorrow … Vermont!
