Road Trip 2011: Day 3 – driving to PA

closeHey, just so you know ... this post is now about 12 years and 9 months old. Please keep that in mind as it very well may contain broken links and/or outdated information.

With Starbucks in hand, we started driving out of Greenville around 8am this morning. In North Carolina we saw our first serious traffic of the trip, but luckily it was going the other direction. The line of stopped vehicles was miles long and had apparently been there a while since people were out of their cars wandering around. Yikes.

We stopped for lunch at a Red Robin (yum!)  in Roanoke, VA about noontime and took a touristy moment to check out the giant skillet a few miles away before getting back on the highway. About an hour later, in Natural Bridge, VA, we took a road parallel to the highway to check out Foamhenge. 5:oopm found us crossing into West Virginia and a mere 30 minutes later we were in Pennsylvania.

We got to our hotel in Grantville, PA about 7pm and after checking in and unpacking for the night we drove over to Hershey Park. Only being in the area for the evening we didn’t go to the theme park (although my daughter really wanted to once she saw all the wooden roller coasters) but opted for the free tour in Chocolate World, along with a light dinner (and dessert!) in the food court, along with some souvenir shopping.

Tomorrow we finally get to Boston.
