Mother’s Day Weekend at Disney, Day 2

closeHey, just so you know ... this post is now about 8 years and 11 months old. Please keep that in mind as it very well may contain broken links and/or outdated information.

Today we spent Mother’s Day at Hollywood Studios.

Our FastPass+ reservations were all later in the day, so the first thing we did after arriving at the park was bee-line it to the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster and get in the standby line to avoid the later crowds. Then it was off to the Frozen Sing-a-Long, which was cute (“this one’s for you, dads!” right before “Let it Go”). I feel like we would have actually gotten better seats if we had gone through the standby line instead of FastPass+, though. My daughter and I went on Star Tours (I failed again to get her onto the Tower of Terror), then it was over to the Hollywood Brown Derby for lunch.

In the afternoon we went to the Animation Academy and learned how to draw Goofy. Hiro and Baymax from “Big Hero 6” are the current popular character greetings there, but the line was too long so we decided to pass this time. We finished the day at Toy Story Mania and then drove back to Tampa, ending our Mother’s Day weekend trip.

There are a lot of changes going on at Hollywood Studios since our last visit: the Mickey Sorceror Hat (centerpiece since 2001) is gone. Also, the Backlot Studio Tour and American Idol Experience are closed. It’ll be interesting to see how the parks change during our next year as passholders.
