For the past few years I’ve been trying my best to keep Galleon’s weather app running, but it appears the end-of-life for it has arrived.
Dayton: Day 2 (Go Flyers!)
The day started early again as we got up at 7am, grabbed a quick breakfast at the hotel, and the headed out into the chilly, windy morning over to the University of Dayton Arena for rehearsal with the alumni band. Practice ended a few hours later after we rehearsed the pre-game and halftime shows with [...]
Come on, Irene
(my apologies to Dexy’s Midnight Runners) It’s been quiet here in the Tampa Bay area just under three months into the 2011 hurricane season, but it looks like Irene might give us our first tropical storm soaking next weekend. We’ll be keeping an eye on her for sure as the week progresses.
Hurricane Season 2011
It’s time for the 2011 hurricane season. 15 named storms are predicted this year, but let’s hope it’s quiet like last year: 2010′s historic season had a total of 19 named storms and ranks as the third most active season on record, but there was little impact on the United States coastline. Baseball, baptism, and barbecues – Memorial Day weekend
This past weekend was Memorial Day which means the unofficial start of summer! Like most people, we spent it travelling, visiting with family, and being outside enjoying the summer weather.

I tracked down the bug to a change in weather.com’s HTML page and was able to make a simple [...]
Spring Training 2011: Day Two
Coming up on Day Two: the Grand Canyon and a rare spring training night game. What could be better?
No snow here!
Wow. Every state in the United States (except Florida!) had some sort of snow on the ground today … even Hawaii! It was chilly here, but no snow. If only the panhandle had gotten a little dusting, how cool (no pun intended) would that have been?
Full moon + lunar eclipse + winter solstice = wow
Did you catch the lunar eclipse this morning? My daughter and I got up at 3am to check out the red moon through the telescope. I think the coolest thing was being able to see stars around the moon through the telescope. Usually it’s so bright it will block out everything else nearby, but this [...]
Disney Labor Day weekend 2010, Day 3
We’re back home after our sixth-annual Labor Day weekend family vacation at Disney World and had a great time as usual. Decent crowds, hidden Mickeys, and those cool FastPass Exchange cards really made the weekend fun.
